The government has allocated one thousand
and 640 metric tonnes (MTs) of rice for the distressed and ultra poor of the
district on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festival under
vulnerable group feeding (VGF) programme.
Sources with the district relief and rehabilitation office said the rice
would be distributed to 1, 64, 035 VGF card holders of all the seven upazilas
including three pourasabhas of the district before the Eid-ul-Fitr.
Of the total, 26814 cards were allocated for Fulchhari upazila, 28,899 for
Sundarganj upazila, 15,160 for Shaghata upazila, 28,252 for Gobindaganj
upazila, 15,762 for Sadullapur upazila, 23,752 for Sadar upazila and 13, 073
for Palashbari upazila.
Apart from this, 4621 cards were allocated for Gaibandha Pourasabha and
Gobindaganj Pourasabha each and 3081 cards for Sundarganj Pourasabha, the

celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals for the
